Germantown Location (GT)

for grades completed: Pre-K - 2nd | 3rd - 5th | 6th - 7th | 8th - 9th | 9th + above

A Camp Sonshine camp convenient for campers coming from the Germantown, Damascus, and Gaithersburg area.

Celebrating nineteen years bringing Camp Sonshine’s award-winning program to the Germantown area, this satellite location offers top of the line traditional day camp activities and a stellar reputation for consistently great staff. Our field trip based programs give Germantown campers a wealth of age appropriate activities ranging from our trademark go-karts to our outrageously fun assemblies to our fun-filled theme days and pool trips. In addition, Camp Sonshine counselors take the time to share basic Christian values at key moments in the camp day through their model behavior, individual attention, and coaching through challenges. Hundreds of campers return year after year to join in Camp Sonshine Germantown’s safe, fun and welcoming Christian environment in which counselors lead campers through a wealth of fun activities and help them build better relationships with their peers, with themselves and with God.

DISCOVERY AND EXPLORER CAMP GT
Campers who have completed Pre-K–2nd grades

We cut no corners to give your child the extra special care you want and they deserve. Our youngest campers’ safe and structured schedule includes go-karts, archery, canoes*, paddleboats, swimming, moonbounce, drama, arts and crafts, water games, and nature activities. Activities are also held off grounds, which may include, but are not limited to: local state parks, children’s museums and Cunningham Falls. Activities are outside in fresh air or in our air-conditioned rooms. This program is popular and tends to fill up quickly!

Campers have an optional Latestay on the first Thursday of each session. All Latestays are off-grounds, and campers participate in special activities such as roasting their own marshmallows, playing games, and more!

Discovery campers (Pre-K and K) are in mixed-gender groups. Explorer campers (1st and 2nd grades) are grouped by gender. All campers must be potty-trained.
* Pre-K and Kindergarten groups participate in mini paddleboats, but not in archery.

ADVENTURE CAMP GT
Campers who have completed 3rd–5th grades

Adventure Camp offers a safe and active outdoor experience in which campers build friendships, develop skills, grow in confidence, and create great summer memories! Some of our off-grounds field trips may include but are not limited to: bowling, roller-skating, laser tag, Adventure Park USA, Cunningham Falls, and more!

As well as great field trips, the program offers traditional camp activities throughout the session such as go-karts, archery, canoes, paddleboats, moonbounce, drama, arts and crafts, sports and water games, and nature activities. We are excited to continue allowing campers to focus on their interests with our Elective Program, which gives them the opportunity to choose an activity to specialize in. Campers will participate in electives once a week. Electives may include: culinary masterpiece, music videos, rock wall, gym, drama, golf, and backyard engineering.

Campers have an optional Overnighter the first Friday of each session.  Overnighters are held at Little Bennett Regional Park where campers participate in special team-building activities such as setting up their group tent and roasting marshmallows over a campfire, playing games, and camping out in tents! Adventure campers come home tired and happy after days filled with safe, incredibly fun and unforgettable experiences.

Mind-blowing overnighters are our hallmark (included in tuition fees). We travel in air conditioned charter buses and stay in great hotels for all our overnight trips. We return to camp for pick-up on Friday night. We will join our Silver Spring Teen Adventure Camp for these amazing adventures. For a list of dates and scheduled locations, please click here.

We know teenagers need meaningful relationships and good role models to follow. That’s why we hire counselors who are not only committed to Christian values, but who are also trained to relate to teens and help them with the issues they face. We strive to create an environment where teens feel safe emotionally and physically, where they can be themselves, hang out with friends and have great role models.

All campers are grouped by grade and gender.

*Please be sure both you and your child sign the conduct agreement in the application, and return it to Camp Sonshine. We require a signed conduct agreement for each child currently in 6th grade or above.
