Silver Spring On-Site
Teens who have completed 7th-11th grades
The Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program equips teens with leadership skills they can use throughout their lives. Teens will learn important leadership skills, such as:
- Teamwork
- Responsibility
- Communication
- Problem solving
- Community Service
- And many more!
We teach these vital life skills in a safe environment through fun and challenging group leadership sessions as well as hands-on experience working with kids alongside trained counselors. LITs help maintain group control, create a safe environment, and assist in activities while putting their leadership skills into practice.
This well-renowned program is approved for student service learning hours as required for High School graduation. Teens have also used this type of leadership experience to put on applications to such organizations as the National Honor Society and various colleges.
LIT Program Highlights (included in tuition):
- Bus Transportation (if needed)**
- LIT Extended Care (if needed)**
- Leadership Skills Training
- One-on-one Adult Mentoring
- Student Service Learning Hours (Max. 35 hours per week)
**Although Bus Transportation and Extended Care are included in the cost of tuition, please indicate on application which service will be utilized.
Please note: to ensure teens get the full experience and benefit from the LIT program, we require all campers to register for a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks (combination of weeks 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8) as an LIT. Campers also need to attend the mandatory training session of June 4th from 9AM-12PM.
In order to be placed in the LIT program, please register for camp. Once we process your camper registration, you will receive additional paperwork which must be filled out by the LIT. For more information, please give us a call at (301) 989-2267 and we'll be happy to tell you more about this popular program.
Please be sure both you and your child sign and return the conduct agreement in the application. LIT requires a signed conduct agreement for each child currently enrolled. You can also download the conduct agreement from the Schedules & Forms page.
